“Oh, who said anything about Claudia?” Colby was particularly proud of that punch line, because after all, the timing was perfect-he had just gotten himself a date with a hot, successful woman and David was there to witness it. Even if the said date wasn’t actually a date and the said woman was just doing him a favor. All’s fair in love and war, right? Yes, payback is a bitch, brother.
“Huh”? That look on David’s face was priceless. The confusion, the doubt and then the realization-it was pretty clear when the question sunk in. “Oh you did not just say that! I don’t…I’m not…ew man, that’s so gross” the disgust was well written on the agent’s face, but there was actually something else there, something Colby was hoping to see.
“What’s wrong with looking for a little bit of love, partner?” Colby winked and headed towards the locker room “Even if it’s a little bit cold and past its expiration date.”
David sat at his desk speechless. There was obviously something extremely wrong with him, because Colby talking about necrophilia should not sound so sexy. No, scratch that, the words necrophilia and sexy should not be put together in the same sentence. No, scratch that again, no matter what Colby does or says he should by no means be considered sexy. No...”Oh screw it” David thought and run after his partner to get some answers.
“You know what, Granger, you’re wrong!” David stated not really caring if there was anyone besides his partner in the room “I do not do corpses, I do not go looking for love at the morgue and first of all, I don’t look for love, period!” He was yelling now, but couldn’t help it.
“Is that so, partner?” Colby just smirked at him.
“Yes it is, because…?”
“You already found it but are too chickened out to admit it?”
“Yes you smart ass” David realized that he’s been played, but couldn’t care less “Yes” he whispered again, quietly.
“Good, cause it took you long enough to admit it” Colby said, closing the distance between them “I was really worried for a while, you spent awfully lot of time at the morgue and…”
“Agent, would you do me a favor and shut up?” David smiled and kissed his newly found love. “Or I might have to go looking for love at the morgue after all…With that face of yours, you’d make a pretty handsome corpse…”
